Air Fryer Cherry Hand Pies
Ingredients:
For the Hand Pies:
- 2 9-inch frozen pie crusts, thawed
- 12-18 tablespoons canned cherry pie filling (about 3/4 to 1 1/8 cups)
- 1 large egg, beaten for egg wash
For the Glaze:
- 1/4 cup icing sugar
- 2 teaspoons whole milk
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Start by preheating your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare Pie Crusts:
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out one pie crust at a time just enough to smooth out. Aim to maintain its original thickness. Cut two 5 ½-inch circles from each crust. Gather excess dough, add a touch of milk to bind if necessary, and roll out to cut additional circles, aiming for a total of 6.
- Fill and Shape Pies:
- Spoon 2-3 tablespoons of cherry pie filling into the center of each dough circle, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Apply egg wash to the borders. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Crimp edges with a fork to seal and cut a small slit on top of each pie. Brush with more egg wash.
- Air Fry:
- Transfer the pies into the air fryer basket without overlapping. Depending on the air fryer size, you might need to cook them in batches. Air fry for 7-8 minutes until they turn golden brown.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the hand pies to cool on a wire rack before serving. Optionally, you can whisk together the icing sugar and milk to make a glaze and drizzle it over the pies for added sweetness.
Enjoy these delightful Air Fryer Cherry Hand Pies, perfect for a quick dessert or a sweet snack on the go. Their flaky crust and juicy cherry filling, combined with the ease of air frying, make for a delicious treat any time.
