Ultimate Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (one 12-ounce bag)
  • 1/2 cup walnut pieces

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • Cream the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes, using a hand mixer or stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully incorporated.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients:
    • Gradually add flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture, mixing just until the dough forms. Aim for a thick consistency.
  4. Chocolate Chips and Walnuts:
    • Fold in the chocolate chips and walnut pieces gently with a wooden spoon, taking care not to overmix.
  5. Chill the Dough:
    • Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes to enhance flavor and texture.
  6. Preheat the Oven:
    • While the dough chills, preheat the oven to 475°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  7. Shape the Cookies:
    • Once chilled, use a scoop to form 2-tablespoon-sized dough balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake:
    • Bake the cookies for 7-8 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft and gooey.
  9. Cool:
    • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack for an additional 5-10 minutes.

Enjoy these decadently gooey chocolate chip cookies while they’re still warm, paired perfectly with a glass of cold milk or your favorite beverage.
