Ultimate Gooey Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips (one 12-ounce bag)
- 1/2 cup walnut pieces
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- Cream the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes, using a hand mixer or stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
- Add Wet Ingredients:
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully incorporated.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- Gradually add flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to the wet mixture, mixing just until the dough forms. Aim for a thick consistency.
- Chocolate Chips and Walnuts:
- Fold in the chocolate chips and walnut pieces gently with a wooden spoon, taking care not to overmix.
- Chill the Dough:
- Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes to enhance flavor and texture.
- Preheat the Oven:
- While the dough chills, preheat the oven to 475°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Shape the Cookies:
- Once chilled, use a scoop to form 2-tablespoon-sized dough balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
- Bake:
- Bake the cookies for 7-8 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers remain soft and gooey.
- Cool:
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack for an additional 5-10 minutes.
Enjoy these decadently gooey chocolate chip cookies while they’re still warm, paired perfectly with a glass of cold milk or your favorite beverage.
