4 pounds chicken (cut into 8 pieces, or a mix of breasts, legs, and thighs)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup Bourbon BBQ sauce (or your favorite store-bought brand)
Instructions
Season the Chicken:
Generously season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper, or apply a dry rub if desired. Let the seasoned chicken sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to one hour before grilling.
Preheat the Grill:
Preheat your grill on high heat. Once preheated, place the chicken on the grill and reduce the heat to medium.
Grill the Chicken:
Grill the chicken, flipping every 10-15 minutes, according to the following times and temperatures (at 350°F):
Bone-in Chicken Breasts: 30-40 minutes, depending on size
Boneless Chicken Breasts: 12-16 minutes (pound to an even thickness for more consistent cooking)
Chicken Thighs: 12-15 minutes for boneless, 20-25 minutes for bone-in
Chicken Legs: 30-40 minutes
Chicken Wings: 10-15 minutes
Apply BBQ Sauce:
During the last 10-15 minutes of grilling, brush the chicken with your BBQ sauce.
Check for Doneness:
The chicken is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast reads 165°F, or 170°F in the thickest part of the leg or thigh without touching the bone.
Rest and Serve:
Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes, loosely covered with foil. Enjoy!
