Cheesy Beef Garbage Bread

Cheesy Beef Garbage Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 thin crust pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup diced onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup sliced bell peppers
  • ½ cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Filling:
    • In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
    • Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
    • Stir in bell peppers, black olives (if using), and Italian seasoning. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined.
  3. Roll Out the Dough:
    • On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a rectangle (around 10×14 inches).
    • Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border along the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
  4. Assemble the Bread:
    • Starting from a long side, carefully roll up the dough like a jelly roll, sealing the edges. Place the roll seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Cut a few slits on top for steam to escape.
  5. Bake:
    • Brush the top with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and slightly hollow-sounding when tapped.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the bread rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy the gooey, cheesy goodness!

Variations & Tips

  • Swap ground beef with ground turkey, plant-based meat, or crumbled sausage for variety.
  • Customize with extra veggies like mushrooms or spinach for added flavor.
  • For a simpler version, skip the veggies or keep it as just cheese and beef.
  • Prepare ahead and refrigerate before baking. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
