Cheesy Beef Garbage Bread
Ingredients
- 1 thin crust pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup diced onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup sliced bell peppers
- ½ cup sliced black olives (optional)
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare Filling:
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
- Stir in bell peppers, black olives (if using), and Italian seasoning. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined.
- Roll Out the Dough:
- On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a rectangle (around 10×14 inches).
- Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border along the edges. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top.
- Assemble the Bread:
- Starting from a long side, carefully roll up the dough like a jelly roll, sealing the edges. Place the roll seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cut a few slits on top for steam to escape.
- Bake:
- Brush the top with a beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and slightly hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Serve:
- Let the bread rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy the gooey, cheesy goodness!
Variations & Tips
- Swap ground beef with ground turkey, plant-based meat, or crumbled sausage for variety.
- Customize with extra veggies like mushrooms or spinach for added flavor.
- For a simpler version, skip the veggies or keep it as just cheese and beef.
- Prepare ahead and refrigerate before baking. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
