Easy Chocolate Cake Balls Recipe
Instructions:
- Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
- Using a fork, crumble the entire cake into a large bowl.
- Add the frosting to the crumbled cake and mix it together using clean hands or a wooden spoon until a dough forms. If needed, add more frosting, but be careful not to add too much.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate the cake balls for 1 hour to firm up.
- Place the milk chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 1-2 minute increments, stirring every 20-30 seconds until smooth. *Note: Ensure your bowl and spoon are completely dry to avoid the chocolate seizing.
- To coat the cake balls, place each ball on a fork, dip it into the melted chocolate, and gently tap the fork on the side of the bowl to allow excess chocolate to drip off. Alternatively, you can use a wooden skewer to dip the balls.
- Place the chocolate-coated cake balls back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet. Quickly add sprinkles before the chocolate hardens.
- Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes:
- Storing: To store, line an airtight container with a paper towel and place the cake balls on top. Cover tightly and refrigerate for 5-7 days.
- Freezer: You can freeze the uncoated cake balls in a freezer-safe container for up to a month. When ready to finish, thaw them overnight in the fridge before dipping in chocolate.
