Fish Cakes Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (500g) white fish fillets, skinless and boneless
  • 2 medium russet potatoes, peeled and shredded
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup (130g) breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (40g) chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup (8g) minced fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Cook the Fish and Potatoes:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shredded potatoes and fish fillets, cooking for about 10 minutes. Be gentle to avoid breaking up the fish too much.
  2. Combine the Ingredients:
    • In a medium-sized bowl, carefully combine the cooked fish and potatoes with the minced garlic, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, eggs, green onions, and parsley. Mix gently to maintain the fish’s texture.
  3. Form the Patties:
    • Shape the mixture into 8 patties, being careful not to compress them too much.
  4. Fry the Fish Cakes:
    • Heat some oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-low heat. Gently place the patties in the skillet and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
  5. Serve:
    • Once golden and crisp, remove the fish cakes from the skillet and serve warm. Enjoy!
