Deep Dark Secret Chocolate Cake
Ingredients:
1 box (13.25 oz) Devil’s Food Cake Mix
1 box (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
3 eggs
2/3 cup brewed coffee
8 oz sour cream
1/2 cup oil
2 tablespoons dark rum
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
For the Ganache:
8 oz quality semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
1 1/4 cups heavy cream
Preparation:
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a standard bundt pan and set it aside.
Prepare the Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sour cream, oil, coffee, and dark rum until smooth.
Gradually add the Devil’s Food Cake Mix and chocolate pudding mix to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Bake the Cake:
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before removing it.
Make the Ganache:
Heat the heavy cream in the microwave or on the stovetop until it’s hot to the touch (about 80-90 seconds in the microwave).
Place the chopped chocolate in a small bowl and pour the warmed cream over it.
Let it sit for 1 minute, then stir until the ganache is smooth and glossy.
Assemble the Cake:
Invert the cooled cake onto a serving plate or dish.
Drizzle the ganache over the top, allowing it to flow down the sides.
