Philly Cheese Steak Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs steak, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 red onion, sliced
  • 2 green bell peppers, sliced
  • 6 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Montreal steak spice
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded provolone

Instructions

  1. Season the steak strips with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the steak strips to the skillet once the oil is hot. Cook until the steak is browned on both sides, then transfer the strips to a plate.
  4. Add the sliced onions and green peppers to the skillet. Stir and cook until they begin to soften.
  5. Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until the vegetables start to brown.
  6. Add the minced garlic to the skillet, stirring and cooking for a couple of minutes.
  7. Return the cooked steak strips to the skillet and stir.
  8. Add the Worcestershire sauce and Montreal steak spice, stirring well to combine.
  9. Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese on top.
  10. Place the skillet under the broiler in the oven until the cheese is completely melted and starting to brown. If you prefer not to use the oven, you can cover the skillet with a lid to melt the cheese.
