Ingredients:
- 1/2 lb macaroni
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 large onion, diced
- Garlic salt, pepper, chili powder, & hot sauce, to taste
- 2 cans (14.5 oz each) whole stewed tomatoes, undrained
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- Tomato juice (optional, as needed)
Instructions:
- Start by cooking the macaroni until al dente, as per the instructions on the package.
- Meanwhile, in a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef and diced onion together. Once browned, drain any excess grease, and season the beef and onion mixture with garlic salt, pepper, chili powder, and hot sauce to your liking.
- In a large mixing bowl, use a potato masher to crush the whole stewed tomatoes before adding them to the skillet with the beef. Stir in the ketchup as well.
- Add the drained, cooked macaroni to the beef and tomato mixture. Mix everything well, ensuring the macaroni is evenly coated and ingredients are well distributed.
- Taste the goulash and adjust the seasonings as necessary. If you find the mixture too thick, you can add tomato juice to reach your desired consistency.
- Note: If you have leftovers, consider adding a bit of tomato juice when reheating, as the macaroni will absorb the sauce over time, making the dish thicker.
Enjoy your bowl of classic goulash, a comforting and hearty meal perfect for any day of the week.
